KIDS IN THE WORD

We provide a structured, faith-focused schedule for children while family members attend a Women in the Word Small Group. Kids enjoy Bible stories, prayers, songs, Bible lesson activities, crafts, snacks, and outdoor play (when weather permits). Lessons are set up by the Kids in the Word and Children’s Ministry teams and follow the same study topics as the women’s small groups.

THE BRIDGE - GRADES 5 - 6

preteen youth group for grades 5 - 6

The Bridge meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15 and 10:45, in Room 6 of the Hall of Faith, during the school year.

The Bridge Youth Group meets twice a month on Friday nights during the school year for fun outings, games, study, and food. Meetings are at the church 7-9 p.m. in Room 6 of the Hall of Faith. For outings we generally gather at 6:15 p.m. and leave the church at 6:30. Arrival back at the church is at 9:00 p.m. These fun off-site events include laser tag, ice skating, swimming, park days, Fort Fun, and more.

Bridge Youth Group also meets a few times through the summer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT WILL MY LITTLE FAITH-KIDS (0-5) LEARN?

We want children ages infant to five years old to experience God’s love for them. We have three key Faith Focuses for this age group:
· God made me
· God loves me
· Jesus wants to be my forever friend
Each time your child attends Little Faith-Kids, they will interact with their teachers and other children in free-play time, games, crafts, songs, snack, and an active Bible lesson.

WHAT WILL MY ELEMENTARY-AGE FAITH-KIDS (6-10) LEARN?

We want children in kindergarten to fourth grade to have fun while engaging in these three key Faith Focuses for this age group:
· Jesus helps me make good decisions
· God is always with me and I can trust Him
· Jesus shows us how to love others
Each time your child attends Faith Kids, they will enjoy worship music and a lively Bible lesson in a large group, then break off into small groups for activities and interaction to reinforce the lesson.

WHAT WILL MY "BRIDGE" PRETEEN (11-12) LEARN?

Preteens are a unique group of adolescents who have different needs from students in children's ministry and youth ministry, so we have given them their own space and named them the Bridge—they are crossing over from children to youth. We want to engage our fifth and sixth graders in both relationships and in these key Faith Focuses:
· Jesus helps me make good decisions
· God is always with me and I can trust Him
· Jesus shows us how to love others
· Jesus will bring us into a deeper relationship with Him
Through Sunday classes and Friday evening youth group meetings, preteens will be given a vision and hope in God.

HOW DO I CHECK MY CHILD IN AND OUT?

All children ages infant - fourth grade should be checked in at one of the two check-in stations in the Children’s Ministry area. For each child, a name label and a guardian label will be printed. Mobile check-in through the SimpleChurch app is also available so that parents and guardians can check in their children before arriving at church. Labels will be printed and awaiting you, saving you time in the check-in line. To pick up a child, the guardian label must be presented to the teacher or small group leader. If a guardian label was not available, the child must be signed out by the adult picking them up.

HOW WILL I BE CONTACTED IF MY CHILD NEEDS ME?

Pagers are assigned to children in the nursery and the twos and threes classrooms. If it becomes necessary, the parent or guardian will be electronically paged to come assist their child.

CAN I JOIN MY CHILD IN FAITH KIDS PROGRAMMING?

One of our priorities in Children’s Ministry is to come alongside parents in the spiritual upbringing of their children. We always welcome parents to attend the worship and lesson time with their child or to hang out in the classroom during small-group time.

CAN I JOIN MY CHILD IN THE NURSERY IF HE OR SHE NEEDS ME?

Many times a young one has a hard time adjusting to being without Mom or Dad when dropped off in the nursery. Parents are permitted to stay with their child while the child becomes accustomed to the nursery.

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS CRYING?

Our nursery and toddler workers are loving and nurturing and will do what they can to calm and comfort a child who is crying or distressed. If the child cannot be consoled after five minutes, the parent or guardian will be paged.

WHO IS IN THE CLASSROOM WITH MY CHILD?

Our workers are trained for and experienced in their positions in Children’s Ministry. We strive to have low worker-to-child ratios so that we can provide quality interactions with each child. All workers age 18 and over are cleared by a criminal background check before they can work with children.

WILL MY CHILD BE SAFE IN THE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AREA?

Along with running criminal background checks on all adult workers, it is our policy to always have at least two workers with children at all times. Additionally, a Children’s Ministry staff member is present during each of the three morning services.
We are also pleased that a large number of our workers have current CPR and First Aid cards through the American Safety & Health Institute. A member of Faith Church’s safety team is present in the children’s area whenever children are present.

CAN MY CHILD STAY FOR MORE THAN ONE SERVICE?

We have a number of families who attend more than one service on a Sunday, either by attending adult discipleship classes or serving as part of the worship team. Children are welcome to stay throughout the morning while their families participate in other programs at church.

CAN MY CHILD ATTEND FAITH KIDS IF HE OR SHE WAS SICK OR HAD A FEVER YESTERDAY?

For the well-being of our workers and all of the children, we request that a child be free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to the children’s area. We also ask that the discharge of runny noses be clear and that coughing has been reduced.
