Faith In Action Workdays

"Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?" James 2:20

August 13, 2011 was another successful day of service to three schools; B.F. Kitchen, Cottonwood Plains, and Van Buren Elementary Schools. Like last year we assisted these three schools in preparation for the new school year. We had 205 volunteers participate. Here are the comments from Principal Dave Patterson at Cottonwood Plains Elementary School:

"I am sitting here in awe reflecting on what just occurred this morning at Cottonwood Plains. There was an army of volunteers that ascended on my school today. They were of all ages but had one common goal, and that was to serve by helping us get ready for the arrival of our students. They gladly accepted jobs that my staff identified needing help with, and worked hard the entire morning. I believe every task, other than a few, was completed. We had a crew of folks outside cleaning our school grounds, some painting and cleaning, and many more inside assisting teachers that were here or working independently on bulletin boards and other projects. The completion of these things will greatly reduce the stress and worry of my staff and allow teachers to focus on students and the planning required to start a new year. I can't begin to thank you and your church community for giving the "gift of help and service" to our school. On behalf of the Cottonwood Plains staff, I send my sincere thanks." Praise God!

August 7, 2010 nearly 200 volunteers descended on three schools; B.F. Kitchen, Cottonwood Plains, and Van Buren Elementary Schools to help prepare these schools for the new school year. Some volunteers served teachers in their classrooms by creating bulletin boards, covering textbooks, collating worksheets, cleaning desks, and painting bookshelves. Others served outside the school assembling and painting playground equipment, weeding, trimming shrubs, planting flowers, cleaning windows and a host of other jobs. All three principals expressed that the savings in man-hours and money was a huge blessing. Our volunteers enjoyed being Jesus' hands and feet to a few of our local schools.
