Randy and Jill Vernon - Serving in Gabon Africa

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19, 20

About Our Mission
Randy is responsible for launching the Navigators ministry in Gabon Africa.  This involves helping local churches with their discipleship and disciplemaking vision and methodology, and also working on the university campus to bring students to Christ and help them grow to spiritual maturity.

Current Status

“We are currently living in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with Tim (17)  and Amy (13) attending Rain Forest International School (RFIS), while Philip and Julie are both at university in the USA.  I spend 50% of my time in itinerant (traveling) ministry, mostly to Gabon, where I am developing a grass-roots discipleship ministry on the Université Omar Bongo campus.  Jill teaches at RFIS and also accompanies me on ministry trips to Gabon several times per year.

Praises:

  • Tim has been accepted at both USC and CSU.  Please pray for affordable finances.
  • Thank God that my NavStaph infection seems to be cleared up. Its hard to tell, partly because I’ve grown a little goatee, in order to not keep shaving over the infected area. But I think its all better.

How You Can Pray for Us:

  • Pray for our upcoming short-term team mission, that we would be able to plan well and that the campus would remain calm enough for us to focus on expanding our university ministry there.
  • Pray for the fundraising each member of the collegiate team is currently doing, that the LORD would quickly bring in the necessary funding.
  • We are still looking for, and praying for, a ministry center here in Libreville. Please continue to pray with us for this.
  • Pray for success in fundraising for Amy, and also for Jill and me. We recently lost a major donor, and will need to make that up and more in order to be up to budget.
  • Pray that Julie would find the right initial job after graduation. Philip, as I mentioned in an earlier update, has accepted a job in Shanghai.
